Gray Days

Growing up is full of difficult choices, renovating your bathroom and bedroom is just one.  For this client's 14-year-old daughter, we chose warm grey tones with aqua accents and classic lines that edge toward modern.  It is clean, interesting, and can grow as she does.

The rectangular shade of the lamp mimics the shape of the dresser and keeps the clean lines of the room.

The room had great windows. All it needed was some new shutters to help control the light.

A new dressing table and a crystal light give the room some glamor.

Grey may be popular right now, but you don't have to keep using the same tones as everyone else.  Instead of using grey with cool undertones, I chose warm tones.  Just change the accent colors and if feels like a new space!

The light blue dresser is both functional and unobtrusive

The window seat had been in the room already, but it needed some spicing up.  A custom designed cushion and a few custom pillows add a lot of charm.

Instead of choosing one large rug, we chose two.  It helps emphasize the length of the space and warm the space at the same time.

Modern pendant lights are a fun way to bring more light to the room and frame the new headboard.

There is no need to match everything in a room.  Two different side tables were chosen, both complementary, and the pendant lights help unify the look.

A gray swivel chair was perfect for reading and still blended in with the rest of the room

The bathroom was in desperate need of a remodel so we decided to keep the same look as the bedroom.

The same wall color was used and a variety of tiles were chosen continue the theme.

Instead of using a seaside theme for the room, we used subtle touches.  Abalone and starfish add a bit of color while still being easily interchangeable later on.

Three different tiles were used in the shower.

The frosted glass pendant lights and light bar add a few modern touches to the classic design.

The same style that was used in the bedroom can be found in the bathroom with slight twists.  Instead of egg shaped pendant lights, there are rectangular ones, but the same frosted glass look is seen in both.

While the bathroom has mostly clean lines, small touches like the chandelier, oval tub and fluffy rug keep it from being too angular.

The tile from the shower walls was used on all the walls to make it easier to clean.

A freestanding tub was added with a heated backrest

An open shower allows handicap access, with no curb to trip anyone and a lineal drain keeps the water from escaping.

A fun chandelier on a dimmer switch gives you the option of a candle lit bath without having to deal with fire.
