The Dangers of Economy

We all know how hard it can be to get what we want and stay on budget. It is a bit like walking a tightrope made out of razor wire: painful and difficult to balance. However, unless you have just won the lottery or struck black gold while digging in your garden, there are times when you will have to compromise in order to get the room that you want.

If that is the case, here are a few things you should be aware of:

1. Don't forget to read the instructions!

Buying cheaper furniture can mean you are the one who will be assembling it. Have your

tools ready, read the instructions carefully, double check you have all the parts that are listed

in the instructions, and don't be afraid to ask for help. There are times when the only way to

put together a simple chair is to call a handyman.

2.The less it cost you, the sooner it will need replacing!

There is nothing wrong with buying what fits your budget. In fact, use that as a rule of thumb.

Just be aware that price can often equate to quality. Knowing that some items usually only last

a few years, start saving your money for a better quality replacement! It may not be an instant

fix, but it will get you there in the long run, and your pocketbook will be happier for it.

3. You can sparkle, no matter the price of your glitter!

Accessories can make or break a room. They can help you change for different seasons, liven

up a dull space, or even pull together a color scheme that doesn't quite work. The danger

here is not so much cheap material. It is more about incorrect spending. If you look at the

price of accessories, you may think it is smart to buy more expensive things to make up for the

cheaper furniture you have in the room. After all, it still costs less than that Stickley dining

table you orginally wanted. There are many places out there that sell attractive, fair quality accessories. Buy the cheaper accessories and use the extra money on something bigger.

After all, a pair of candlesticks is much easier to replace than a piece of furniture.
